I did see the Peri and Mel episodes. However, neither of them connected with me the way Nyssa and Tegan did. Well, from what I know, Peri and Mel weren't as well-written and deeply-characterized as either Tegan or Nyssa, mainly because of the eras of the show they were in.

Yeah, they were in the declining years of Classic Who.
Only Ace really got character development at that time.

Yeah, they were in the declining years of Classic Who. Only Ace really got character development at that time. Yeah. As DW is mainly a sci-fi\horror\time-travel show for kids\tweens, many Companions don't have much characterization beside "friendly present-day London girl" "camp omnisexual man from another planet in an utopian future" "super-smart alien teenager" "man of action" "far-future savage young woman that takes a while to learn to be civilized"... they're only really there to have things explained, be kidnapped to advance the plot, help the Doctor hold stuff, scream, and maybe befriend (or flirt with) the characters of the day. I'm the one that writes them with a characterized personality and well-thought quirks.

Lots of fans do that. They fill in the gaps the show left. Mind you, it's easier to do that with Classic Who characters, because they never got the development that NuWho characters did.

As a Classic Who fanfic writer who also plays TS3 and is getting into the Overwatch fandom, giving developement to forgotten\less-developed characters is basically my job.

There you go then.
You'd have a harder time doing with Rose through Clara, because they got so much development.

Or you could ignore it, start Rose and Clara as the blank-ish slates they both were in their introductions, and have an alternate development for them.

You could do that, of course.

You could do that, of course. Most of my fics are AU-ish.

Excellent Yeah. There's the side you're in, and then there's the side I'm in and that this forum is geared to.

Yep, that would be the case here. Yeah. This forum is'nt technically suppose to be for you, you're just here to help me. (And likely you're not Autistic like I am...) It's just that the rest of my side of the fandom didn't join - likely because I'm not famous there, and most people in that side don't follow me enough. Or maybe I'm just even way too fandomy even for THAT side of the fandom.

Well, I'm here because of the Doctor Who stuff. Perhaps you should seek out more Who fans (Classic and Nu). Some might come here.
