en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Paul_Jennings_(Australian_author)I love childrens author Paul Jennings's stories. I wrote my own story inspired by his where a mother gets her son a old vinyl record of ballet music to encourage him after he shows interest in dance. Unfortunately for him, she didn't know it was magical and meant for females. One of the things on the cover that has faded and can't be read said "Gender Strictly Enforced". After he puts it on, the magic compels him to dance to the music and when he finally is free and opens his eyes hes now a beautiful ballerina.

Did Mr. Jennings actually write stories like this?

Let's just say he wrote a story where a boy got a cologne from a gypsy that made him attractive to *any* female, not just human females...

So he had animals chasing him too, I guess.

I guess. It would be a story based on someone else's story - but not the same universe and\or characters like usual fanfictions, just the same genre. TVtropes calls it spiritual successor. tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/SpiritualSuccessorIt's not fanfiction in the sense of the word, but it's accepted in sites such as FFnet or AO3. Just call it "inspired by How Hedley Hopkins Did a Dare" instead of tagging it as a fanfiction of that book.

And by posting it as a non-profit Fan Fiction, you're safe from the Copyright lawyers.

And by posting it as a non-profit Fan Fiction, you're safe from the Copyright lawyers. Well, technically not really posted as a Fan Fiction. It'd be an original story in a fanfiction site.
