Some days ago I felt quite entertained with naming my future child Blip. (with a middle name from a legendary Pokémon)

Don't, just don't. If you want to put Blip in there, make it a middle name.

A lot of these mothers (and yes it's mostly the mothers who make the final decision) can't seem to see beyond the precious baby to the grown adult when bestowing a name. I advised a friend who's due to give birth "please (friend), give her something like Elizabeth, Mary or Jane as a middle name to fall back on in her adult professional life".

Like the actress Jane Russell. Jane was her middle name, her first name was Ernestine. Ye-ikes, no wonder she went by Jane.

Well, at least Ernestine is more of a name than Blip. And a name like Blip can fit a character... Maybe the first name could be Susan or Blair for a girl, Boyd or Cycl0n3 for a boy? The middle name would still be a legendary Pokémon since I worship them.

As I said, I've met young ladies named Nyssa and Tegan after the Doctor Who characters.

Whenever a "Strong Female Character" is announced as being say, Roberta, I wonder "Will she go by Rob, Bobby or Bert?"
Why does a woman need a mans nickname to be perceived as "strong"?

Well, there have been strong female characters that don't have men names. Kara Zor-El and Peggy Carter come to mind here.

It’s usually the tomboy that has a masculine nickname (although technically nicknames aren’t gendered – they’re the same for all variants of the name) such as Roberta going by Bobby. The Strong Female Character does’nt need to be specifically a tomboy. Could be a leader-like smart person that is’nt really tomboyish or girly. Heck, there are girly girls who are Strong Female Characters, and tomboys who are Weak Female Characters.

Yeah but a girly girl Roberta would spell it "Bobbie"

Sooner or later you would get with real-life development of AI what happened in Star Trek with the Old Ones. They grew afraid of their creations and started turning them off. Their survival at stake, the androids slaughtered their creators.

***as you can all see, I've re-titled this thread, since we've moved away from the original subject***
And then there is Skynet in the Terminator franchise, which was pretty much the same story, AI turning on it's creators. And then there is the movie Colossus: The Forbin Project.

I'd actually date a robot from the far future.
Human guys are mostly too basic\boring for me.

Lots of rumours flying around Buck House. A royal death? Hope it's not the Queen. Charles is a reactionary old grouch. Never mind that he once told Camilla he wanted to be her tampon. All Hail King Tampon the First, Lord of Bras and Panties.
