While that Turkey episode was probably one of the best episodes of the show and was brilliant in the way it aped the Hindenburg disaster, the reality is that wild turkeys actually CAN fly. They don't necessarily fly long distances, but they can fly as fast as 55 miles per hour.
Whether a turkey could survive being dropped out of a low-flying plane flying 120 mph or more is another matter.
Even though Johnny Fever was supposed to be a DJ who was pretty much washed up and therefore had to work at a WKRP, I always had a problem believing that such a guy would be working at an AM, rather than FM, radio station. And that they never seemed to have a playlist or any programming restrictions whatsoever. There was a Program Director, but no Music Director.
But a very fun show. It was still a time when radio and radio DJs were still part of the cultural conversation. No one would produce a TV show about radio today.
The 2014 DVD boxed set is a restored version of the entire series. While it doesn't have all the original music, it has much of the original music restored to the show (previous editions eliminated most of it), although they couldn't get the rights back to everything. Price on Amazon has dropped to $63 for all 90 episodes plus some extras.

Carlson: As God is my witness, I thought turkeys could fly!
Johnny did seem to have carte blanche when it came to the music he played. Chalk it up to Rule Of Funny.
Not likely. Radio is Old Media, which only has about 30 or 40 years left.
A must have for fans of this show.
